Utility-scale wind turbines range in size from 100 kilowatts to as large as several megawatts. Larger wind turbines are more cost effective and are grouped together into wind farms, which provide bulk power to the electrical grid. The smallest turbines are used for applications such as battery charging for auxiliary power for boats or caravans or to power traffic warning signs.
